WWE Hall of Famer returns on Raw, will challenge Gunther for World Title at SNME

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg made his return to WWE, interrupting newly crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther during Monday’s Raw, live from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Gunther mentioned the rumors of what might be next for him, as the fans chanted Goldberg.

After the in-ring confrontation ended, Michael Cole announced that its was made official – Goldberg will challenge Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Saturday Night’s Event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on July 12.

The match comes from an angle between Goldberg, his son and Gunther, that took place at the October 5, 2024 Bad Blood premium live event in Atlanta. After he was antagonized by Gunther, Goldberg jumped the barricade, but was stopped by security. Since that time, the former WCW star has talked in detail about having his retirement match in the summer of 2025 in the south. However, it was not confirmed on Raw that July will be Goldberg’s final match.

The 58-year old Goldberg last wrestled back on February 19, 2022 at the Elimination Chamber PLE, losing the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns by submission.

WWE has already released new Goldberg merchandise.
